The Digital Optical Module technology, originated by Dave Nygren, digitizes PMT anode pulses deep in the antarctic ice, then sends data to the surface for triggering and analysis. In January 2000, 41 DOMs were deployed (AMANDA string 18). The firmware and APIs developed to read out the DOMs constitutes a foundation upon which the IceCube data acquisition system will be built, as currently proposed. At this point the configuration allows acquisition of physics data sufficient for proof of principle.

The nanoammeter project exploits twenty years of progress in semiconductor design with the promise of higher precision and resolution accompanied by longer battery life and digital read-out options.

The PC board design revisions for the NESTOR floor board conclude an effort undertaken in 1998 in support of Neutrino astronomy. The hardware will be deployed this summer or fall near Pylos, Greece.
